Our 2022 Trend Predictions

Oct 7, 2021 | Home Design Trends

What’s in and what’s on its way out the door?

Let’s take a look at our predictions on the things we may see more and less of in 2022.

Whats in?

Multi-use Spaces

One thing that never changes is the balancing act between what we want included in our homes and what a comfortable budget will allow for! A popular way to fit more in for less $$ is combining multiple spaces into single rooms. For example, several of our 2022 builds have eliminated a third living space by combing the Activity/Rumpus room with the Media, by eliminating the extra square metres off the house there are dollars in the budget to add plenty of joinery or built-in storage to stash all of the toys, books and board games out of sight!

Darker timber tones

For quite a while now we have seen beautiful golden Oak flooring, Teak furniture and blonde timber photo frames on repeat. We predict that over the next year we will start to see less of those light coloured timber and more richer, mid-toned timbers/stains appearing in our homes.

Tactile Texture

We have seen it grow in popularity and we’re sure to see more of it over the next 12 months, bubbly loop-pile carpets, imperfect hand-made tiles, venetian plaster walls and rustic timber finishes.

What’s on its way out?

All White Everywhere

With massive influence from design trio Three Birds Renovations on home trends within Australia, over the past few years we’ve seen “Three Bird” inspired white-house, after white-house popping up along our streets.

Of course, white is classic- it will always have its place in our interiors, but the all-white everything trend is certainly on its way out the door.

Most of our 2022 build are well into (or past) the design phase now, with many clients opting for more tonal interiors combining off-whites, soft greys or browns and introducing bold colours into their finishes.
